MirCo (Mirror Coach) – An interactive Fitness Mirror
Tags
MirCo (Mirror Coach) is an interactive fitness mirror, which functions as the user's personal trainer by providing an individual workout and assisting him in different exercises.
The user gets tracked by a kinect 2.0 camera, which records his movement and delivers the data to the software. The program Unity 5.x analyses and compares the received information to the exercises in the database and recognizes mistakes, the user made. So the system is able to display corrections on the 48" monitor, which the user perceives through a spy mirror with 80% opacity. Another hardware feature is the built-in laser beam that sets the distance between the user and the mirror. The Magic Mirror augments the reflection of the user with audiovisual feedback, which adds up to a feeling of unity between the real life picture and technology.
In the menu the user can choose between some exercises or his profile page, which shows information about himself, his personal progress and success. If he decides to train he can select 3 different types of exercises. After a 3D-model demonstrates the correct execution of the exercises, it is the user's turn to train. The system adds angles underneath his arms or legs that turn green if the exercise is done correctly or magenta if the given angle is exceeded. Furthermore, a counter is implemented which counts the amount of correct executions and also sets the speed for each repitition.
