Assassin – 3D Character

Tags

This Bachelor's thesis explores the conception, creation and technical realisation of a realistic 3D character for use in real-time environments. With a focus on character art for games and cinematic productions, the project combines theoretical research with a practical workflow to explore the achievement of believability through design, historical references, and technical execution. Taking the Thirty Years' War as a historical framework, the thesis investigates the roles of clothing, functionality and visual storytelling in character design, emphasising plausibility over strict historical accuracy. The practical section documents the development of a character from concept to 3D asset using industry-standard tools and pipelines. Contemporary video games are also analysed to inform design strategies for the workflow. Insights from professional character and concept artists also inform the project’s methodology. The thesis aims to provide aspiring artists with an accessible overview of professional character artwork workflows, demonstrating how artistic intent, technical constraints and historical.
